Grappa (Bijoux di Lacrima)

The Grappa produced at Antica Cantina Sant Amico is a mono-varietal using only the finest Lacrima di Morro D’Abla grape vinaccia due to its characteristic and unique flavours that permeate within the Grappa upon distillation. 

Grappa shares a very strong connection to Italy’s heritage and has been part of our winery’s foundations since it first established in 1850. The distillation process is an ancient practice that can be traced back to 1st Century AD through the practices performed in Eygpt, to first historically references of the technology making its way to Italy in 13-1400’s, most likely by route of Crusades. It is a fascinating tale of innovation that has moved from equipment used in early distillation methods in the 1600’s, all the way to present day innovations including the use of steam and vacuums to further refine the grape varietals flavours.

Bouquet – Embodies the detailed accents of the Lacrima Di Morro D’Alba with a subtle presence of soft mint and aromatic herbs.

Taste – Carries to the palate seasoned wild fruit and herb flavours and subtle floral nuances, with a characteristically soft and smooth structure that blends naturally with its alcohol.
